DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY

DBT is an evidence based approach to treating substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and other psychological impairments. I like to refer to DBT skills as "life skills," and find them helpful for anyone needing support in managing stress, regulating emotions, or navigating challenging relationships. The basis of DBT is mindfulness, which is the practice of tapping into the present moment and letting go of judgments. Mindfulness is a powerful tool to help us feel more grounded and ruminate less on our past and future worries.

EXPOSURE RESPONSE PREVENTION

ERP is an evidence based approach to treating OCD, specific phobias, social anxiety and Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). If obsessions, fear or anxiety are getting in the way of living your life to the fullest, this approach may be right for you. This modality includes creating a "fear hierarchy" and progressively exposing ourselves to the things that scare us in order to become more confident in tackling life head on. After we build a trusting relationship, I will support you in each of these exposure sessions, reminding you that you are safe even when your brain may tell you otherwise.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

I find that CBT is exceptionally helpful for my clients who struggle with perfectionism and self esteem issues. As a recovering perfectionist, I understand deeply the impacts of anxiety and a loud inner critic on the brain, body, and life. We will identify cognitive distortions and work together to challenge them with more realistic, helpful thoughts. By identifying the link between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors we can live a fuller, more meaningful life.

EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING

I am diligent about taking a trauma-informed lens in my practice. EMDR treats mental health conditions that occur as a result of trauma, or adverse life experiences. EMDR is best known for treating PTSD, but my clients find it helpful in treating anxiety and depression symptoms as well. This modality helps us to uncover the roots of negative core beliefs that may be impacting daily functioning. By bilaterally stimulating the brain and talking through past, present, and future stresses, I can help you create more adaptive, positive, and helpful neural pathways.
